High School Registration for the 24-25’ School Year
Dear 8th Grade Parents and Guardians, It is time to register our 8th grade students for high school classes. Your student’s current teachers will be making core academic classes recommendations for next year based on grades, work ethic, and guidelines set forth by the high school. Your student will select their electives choices for their 9th grade year. Per county policy, we must register students for their zoned high school, which is the high school located in the area in which they reside at this current time. This means that if your student lives in a high school district different than the school they plan to attend; either through school CHOICE, employee transfer, attending a private school, moving to another district, or magnet program; we MUST still register them for their districted high school. Sometimes plans change before the first day of 9th grade, and we want our students to have the necessary registration completed. I encourage you to check your home high school’s website and look for when they will hold their 8th grade parent meeting so you can attend. If you plan to apply for school CHOICE, Sibling transfer,or Employee Transfer for your child to attend a school in which you are currently not districted for, please contact our counseling clerk, Tracy Biolsi at [email protected] to make note. You must apply by the dates below and complete them on the Cobb County website (cobbk12.org) for this process. If your child is approved for a transfer, you will be notified of the approval and asked to contact the high school to make an appointment to register your child. We will then have your student complete the appropriate elective registration forms at Lost Mountain. Continue to check CTLS and the counseling website for up-to-date informationand your high school’s website for specific information.
